      Dear Emad,

Yes the installation is finished. But as you know it takes much more time to create detailed documentation like we do than actual installation. We have hundreds of screens and on top of that we are putting explanation of issues faced and workarounds. We will post these as soon as possible.

Also we have some functional issues in HCM screens which we will update later.

      Thanks for checking.

Please do post the Linux one. From the comments made so far, my guess is more folks are waiting on the Linux one 😉

    Dear all,

Since 11.1.5 is available now, we will skip 11.1.4 and install 11.1.5 (even though the new release notes also are full of known issues). We will first go ahead with Oracle Solaris and in parallel if possible will do Linux as well.

    Admin,
I am looking for 11.1.4 steps to manually cleanup/restore after Preconfigure stage failure – I have reviewed the manual/metalink notes – they are vague/ not easy.

    Thanks

Dear all ORA Training blog readers,

We know that all of you are waiting for this post. Even though the installation is finished and blog posts are also ready for the steps, we are a bit hesitant to post this now since the Solaris version has exceptionally too much bugs in the installation files including many config files. We have solution for any issues you might encounter but to be honest a lot of you might be stressed out during this setup due to plethora of bugs.

We have decided to see if we can allocate servers for linux version again or wait for next Solaris release. Please post your comments and let us know if you really want to see it or wait for new release.

    Have a great day !

      Priyanka,

Did you get a solution from this? I am doing the second installatio(version 11.1.6) and had no issues in the first install. Got into this issue on my second install. If you resolved it and know the solution please let me know.

      Thanks,
      Srini K

        Priyanka,

I resolved the issue. still please let me know how you resolved your issue,

        For the benefit of others
I gave the SkipOVDValidation=true initially for running LDAPConfigPostSetup.sh and later changed that false and ran it again as I did for my first successful installation. But I don’t think this is the real solution. I think we have to bounce the all the Managed servers , and I suspect that must have triggered the reconciliation job which resolved my issue.

        Thanks,
        Srini K

    Hi that sounds good!

Is the installation much different than the installation on Oracle Linux?

    Thanks.

      Oct 2nd, 2012 at 06:40 | #28

Well there are 2 things here. First and most importantly our earlier post was about 11.1.1.5 installation while this one is about 11.1.4 so definitely there is a difference in terms of number of bugs.

Secondly Linux installation is much smoother compared to Solaris in terms of libraries availability, strange java class errors/mismatch. We are going to cover as much as possible so that it goes smooth for you.

We will explain at few places where it will differ from linux but the same guide that we will post should help you on any platform
